Job Function: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Work Type: Ongoing - full time About this role Full time ongoing position (part time considered) Salary range: $76,426 - $98,901 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model Flexible location: Geelong or Melbourne CBD office About the role Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) is the primary non-legal advocacy provider in Victoria for people subject to or at risk of compulsory treatment and is responsible for the opt-out system. IMHA has identified that First Nations people are overrepresented in some areas of Victoria in the mental health system. This role will work to deliver projects to explore the experiences of First Nations peoples and communities in accessing designated mental health services. They will document these experiences and work with IMHA management to recommend actions required to improve access to the IMHA advocacy services and improve understanding of the overrepresentation of First Nations peoples in designated mental health services. This is a special measures role and only First Nations people are eligible to apply, as per the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. This role can be based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country or our Barwon region office on Wadawurrung Country. About you As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Experience in supporting project work, including design, coordination, and implementation. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to use those skills to build collaborative relationships. Demonstrated research, writing, and policy analysis skills. Experience working with First Nations lived experience experts and an understanding of the challenges impacting First Nations people experiencing mental health issues accessing mental health and other related systems.
