Forensic Clinical Specialist Program - Coordinator FCSP Clifton Hill VIC 3068, Australia Posted Sunday 5 January 2025 at 2:11 pm | Expires Wednesday 5 February 2025 at 1:40 am Permanent part time role (0.8EFT), based at CFMHS, with potential remote work opportunities (hybrid working model) Suitably qualified senior mental health clinician - allied health, psychology or nursing $136,650 Pro-Rata plus Super and Salary packaging (HS8) About the role: The Forensic Clinical Specialist Program (FCSP) was established in 2010 by the Department of Health and involves the employment of Forensic Clinical Specialists (FCS) within Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (AMHWS), with a three-clinician team based at Forensicare to coordinate the program (FCSP Manager, two FCSP Coordinators). The program aims to support the mental health workforce to better assess, treat and manage people with severe mental illness who display, or have the potential for violent and/or high-risk offending behaviours. The FCSP Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the work of the Forensic Clinical Specialists across services, and in contributing to the development of the program. The position works under direction from the FCSP Manager and liaises closely with the Department of Health and other key stakeholders such as AMHWS, Mental Health Community Support Services (MHCSS), consumers, and the Criminal Justice System. In collaboration with the Manager, FCSP and Co-Coordinator, support the Forensic Clinical Specialists (FCS) to build capacity of the mental health workforce to assess and treat clients presenting with dual vulnerabilities of serious mental illness and offending/risk of offending. Involves support to Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (AMHWS) to recruit FCS, provide orientation and training in forensic mental health, provide ongoing support, coordinate statewide forums and strengthen partnerships across the mental health and justice system. About you: Looking to develop your leadership skills and strategic thinking Enjoys building relationships and working with a range of key stakeholders across AMHWS, Forensicare and the Criminal Justice System Wants to be at the forefront of service development and innovation – The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System has made recommendations to further expand the FCSP Keen learner – this position receives significant training in Structured Professional Judgement risk assessment tools and extensive forensic mental health professional development Keen teacher – opportunities to facilitate training, education and reflective practice What you need: Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration (where applicable as per discipline) or membership with the appropriate Board or Association as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist Demonstrated minimum 7-year post registration mental health experience. Demonstrated ability to undertake comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments and to plan, implement and evaluate clinical interventions. Experience working in forensic mental health and knowledge of forensic mental health risk assessment. Additional Information: This position is subject to a Police Check.
