Vacancy Name: Fund Lead (Global Special Managed Account), Asset Management Vacancy No: VN128 Description: New Forests seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Fund Lead for a new USD 300M Global Special Managed Account (SMA). This role will support the deployment, management and growth of the SMA and New Forests’ strategy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for nature-based solutions to environmental challenges, a strong background in finance, and investment portfolio management in the forest sector. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of assets located across a number of global jurisdictions that are designed to deliver both positive environmental outcomes and financial returns.This role will be tasked with management of the SMA, including building out the portfolio and ongoing oversight of the strategic and operational activities within investee companies to optimise financial, operational, environmental, social and governance outcomes consistent with the SMA objectives and New Forests operating policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities: Investment Oversight: oversight of the strategic and operational activities of the SMA and within investee companies to optimise financial, operational, environmental, social and governance outcomes consistent with the account objectives and New Forests operating policies and procedures: Capital Deployment: support capital deployment through deal sourcing, due diligence, legal review, financial modelling and ownership transition. Team Leadership: Take a leadership role with a global cross-functional team to meet the objectives of the account and of New Forests and ensure high levels of well-being, morale, motivation and performance. Reporting: Manage integration of company investee company reporting to meet New Forests information requirements (financial, operational, environmental, social, governance). Advocacy: contribute to global advocacy of New Forests brand and investment strategy. Influence key stakeholders in the pursuit of New Forests corporate objectives and those of its fund investments. Qualifications, Experience and Strengths: We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications, experience, and strengths: Experience in fund portfolio management and real asset management; A detailed understanding of what economic, social, environmental and governance factors deliver value from the investments in the portfolio; Strong experience in the strategic management of corporate plantation forestry operations, timber processing and associated financial modelling; Strong commercial skills including contract management, negotiations and financial analysis; Excellent stakeholder management skills including strong communication skills across a broad range of stakeholders; Experience in transaction identification, institutional investment frameworks and asset acquisition legal documentation and due diligence; Experience with tropical forestry operations and relevant tertiary qualifications will be well regarded; Significant experience in managing operational performance and compliance to legal and third-party standards. The ability to manage forest resource description, estate optimization and geographic information systems used to inform financial valuations and strategic plans would be beneficial; Experience with carbon modelling and voluntary carbon standards would be well regarded.
