About our team National Operations | Tobacco & E-Cigarette Wofg TF | N/A | Office of the ITEC Commissioner The Public Health (Tobacco and Other Products) Act 2023 (the Act) establishes the illicit Tobacco and E-cigarette (ITEC) Commissioner. These positions will support the ITEC Commissioner and Commander through a coordinated approach to strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, event management, focusing on the ITEC's role in implementing whole of government strategies to address illicit tobacco and e-cigarettes. The positions actively manage external stakeholder relationships with key stakeholders both internally and across other Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies, including law enforcement agencies. Our ideal candidate Skills and capabilities we need: Strong coordination skills and problem solving Sound understanding of the principles of good governance and record keeping Duties and responsibilities There are a variety of positions available at the APS6 level within the Office of the ITEC Commissioner including: Data and Reporting Officer: Responsible for providing guidance and responding to Questions on Notice, drafting ministerial submissions, briefs, correspondence and Question Time Briefs, and tailoring these for purpose, audience and environment. They are also responsible for providing highly complex data analytics solutions to the development and delivery of reporting as described in section 163D of the Public Health (Tobacco and Other Products) Act 2023. This includes the development of data visualisation products, resolving data integrity issues, identifying data gaps and rectifying these. Communications, Engagement and Governance Officer: Responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating communication strategies and plans that support whole of government strategies for addressing illicit tobacco and e-cigarettes, designing and promoting major events and announcements, maintaining the dedicated ITEC web page and analysing data/information to inform the effect communication and education products are having on the Australian community. They support designated cross-agency governance committees through secretariat services. Strategic Policy Officer: Responsible for undertaking work that is complex in nature and needs to be able to work under broad direction to contribute to the development of analysis and advice within the ITEC. They will be analysing and synthesising information from a wide range of sources, both domestically and internationally that contributes to development and implementation of national strategies for the enforcement of illicit tobacco and e-cigarette product laws. They will prepare high-quality reports, briefing papers, correspondence and identify solutions for policy issues identified. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and: ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC). Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check. In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
