About our team National Operations | Customs Compliance Enforce & Target | Trusted Trader & Trade Compliance | Various The Customs and Trade Compliance Branch is seeking to fill three critical current vacancies, and the merit pool from this process will be used to fill a wide range of positions in the future. The branch supports the ABF's commitment to working with industry to foster trade, strengthen supply chain security, and detect illegal trade. Licenses depot and warehouse operators and customs brokers Identifies revenue shortfalls and addresses non-compliance with Customs and other legislation, and encourages voluntary compliance Supports Australian industry, including the National Trade Advice Centre that provides rulings and reviews on tariffs, valuations, and broader classifications Administers the Tourist Refund Scheme for travellers claiming a GST refund on goods they take offshore with them. Duties and responsibilities The broad duties of EL1 Inspectors across the Customs and Trade Compliance Branch include: Managing, leading, and developing their team Interpreting policy and legislation so that they and their teams can do some or all of the following Advise industry working at Australia's border (e.g. importers, exporters, and services providers) Regulate licensed depots, warehouses, duty-free operators, and customs brokers Identify, address, and prevent non-compliance with Customs and other legislation Administer programs and provide services according to applicable legislation Cultivating strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
