Branch: Brisbane Infrastructure, City Standards Personnel Area: Asphalt and Aggregates Duration: Contract – 4 years About the Position: Brisbane City Council is the largest local government in Australia, with assets of over $34 billion and an annual budget of over $4 billion. We work in partnership with a variety of governments, peak bodies, industries and community organisations to build a better Brisbane. While reporting into the Executive General Manager City Standards, your responsibility is strategic and includes general management of Council’s Road Surfacing division, Asphalt plants and Quarries with an annual budget of $150M and 290 staff. You will ensure operations are undertaken in a safe, efficient and commercial manner, while delivering Council programs for the benefit of Brisbane. As General Manager your accountabilities will include: Demonstrated ability to promote and implement Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture. Lead and develop management team to achieve Branch and Council objectives in a favourable manner. Ensure a safe culture is achieved, aligning with Council’s Zero Harm objectives. Implement a clear strategic direction for the Branch to achieve profit and return on revenue goals. Successful commercial outcomes through the coordination of road surfacing, asphalt and quarry operations. Deliver the Road Surfacing Programs of Council on time, on budget and to customer expectations within constraints of complex environments. Ensure Asphalt and Aggregates operates in accordance with relevant legislation, integrated management systems and Council policy frameworks. Other responsibilities will include: Human Resource management, staff recruitment, training and development, industrial relations, performance management and coaching. To be successful: You will be expected to have relevant Engineering or Project Management qualifications, plus a proven track record of managing a portfolio of civil road infrastructure projects.
