Based in Sydney and reporting to the Group Financial Controller, we are seeking an experienced candidate with an excellent knowledge and expertise in financial and taxation reporting with a strong focus on compliance. We're looking for someone with exceptional stakeholder management skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, and strong organisational skills to balance priorities and meet deadlines. The ability to work under pressure, meeting rapidly changing priorities with limited direction is essential. Ideally, you are a detail-oriented, proactive professional with a passion for ensuring quality and compliance. To be considered for this role, you must possess: Solid background in the accounting industry, understanding the nuances of professional services. Technical and practical experience in indirect tax, including GST. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across various teams. Sound analytical expertise to navigate complex regulations and identify opportunities for improvement. Proven leadership qualities, with the ability to guide a team, provide mentorship through knowledge transfer, and inspire excellence. Key Responsibilities For a right candidate, this role offers the perfect platform to make a meaningful impact. Your day-to-day responsibilities involved: Developing and refining policies, procedures, and tools particularly in the areas of Tax Policy and GST Governance. Ensuring accuracy and reporting compliance within the Group which includes the preparation and lodgement of monthly mandatory reporting for the ATO including BAS returns, STP reporting and the review of PAYG, payroll tax and FBT. Monitoring and addressing non-compliance issues, updating policies and procedures as required. Providing guidance on legislative changes and their impact to the Group’s compliance reporting and working closely with the finance system developer to implement the necessary policies and technology updates. Developing and delivering training programs, fostering a culture of excellence and compliance across the organisation. Oversee periodical financial closing and reporting. Assisting with the preparation of Group statutory and board reporting. Supporting interim and year-end audit process. Completing ad hoc tasks, projects and reports as requested by stakeholders within the business and by management. Demonstrated ability to manage and communicate effectively with authority such as ATO and State Government Bodies. Examples of your excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce high quality work and accurate finance and compliance reporting in a fast-paced environment. Instances of your ability to work independently as well as in a team and displaying a ‘can do’ and “go to” person attitude. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and quality improvement. Soft and Technical Skills Ideally, you possess: Competent computer skills including intermediate to advanced Microsoft EXCEL skills. This is a must requirement. Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates a customer focused mindset. Open honest approach with the ability to maintain confidentiality information. Strong business acumen and interpersonal skill. Knowledge of Dynamic 365, JIRA would be advantageous. Possess an Australian higher education and qualifications. Experience managing and dealing with the Top 1000 GST Assurance Programs will be highly desirable.
