THE ROLE The GM of People & Culture leads the People team in designing, delivering, and executing strategies that drive business growth. By balancing both strategic vision and operational execution, this role plays a key part in shaping the employee experience. As a core member of the Senior Leadership Team, the GM of People & Culture continuously evolves the People function, ensuring a positive impact across all employee touchpoints whilst aligning with and supporting the overall business strategy. Reporting into the Chief Financial & Operating Officer APAC, this role is responsible for, but not limited to: General Lead and manage the People team across Talent, Operations, Employee Relations, Learning & Development and Work Health & Safety Develop and implement People strategies and processes aligned to business requirements Work in partnership with the Head of L&D to implement the L&D strategy and arrange any training requests for Support Centre Oversee the Annual Performance Appraisal Process Lead the Culture Committee ensuring there are ample initiatives organised throughout the year for special events/occasions and there are regular catch ups Play a key role in driving engagement and performance Manage the People budget Act as an escalation point to effectively manage any Fair Work cases with minimal financial or reputational loss to the business Health, Safety and Wellbeing Oversee all health, safety and wellbeing policies, procedures and initiatives Ensure site audits are completed and corrective actions are undertaken Oversee any incidents and ensure investigations are carried out if required Oversee the management of workers compensation claims ensuring compliance Oversee the return to work process for injured team members Contribute to and oversee proactive wellbeing initiatives to address mental health and resilience Ensure WHS training compliance at all locations Employee Relations Lead, coach and develop the People Relations Manager Manage more complex queries, grievances or investigations to finalisation Develop and deliver training around ER issues as identified by trends Manage the annual employee engagement survey implementation Performance Management Coach and oversee People Relations Manager providing tier 1 advice to managers and team members on performance issues Manage more complex queries, terminations or investigations to finalisation Develop and deliver training around performance management issues as identified Manage bi-annual performance management process Re-design and roll out of best practice underperformance framework Remuneration & Benefits Member of the remuneration committee Gather relevant data for salary benchmarking and employee salary review Ensure all changes to Award rates are communicated to the relevant stakeholders Annual fairness testing to ensure we are paying our team members correctly Consistently look for new benefits to add to our employee benefits packages Manage relationship with REST and offer employees training and support Talent Lead, coach and develop the Head of Talent Oversee all recruitment processes and associated activities Oversee onboarding of all new team members and monitor SLAs Oversee cross boarding of current team members and monitor SLAs Implement new succession planning framework with relevant stakeholders and PTM and ensure a talent pipeline and career path is published and maintained/monitored Ensure all communications and recruitment activity promotes our employer brand Technology Lead on any people related technology projects keeping to budget Consistently encourage team to adopt new technologies to enable process improvements and better efficiencies Reporting WGEA Monthly & weekly reporting to JD Group UK HQ Metrics on turnover, head count and absenteeism, time to fill roles, grievances, termination, workers compensation claims and other People initiatives Office Oversee the smooth operation of head office ensuring team members have access to facilities and supplies required Ensure both the employee and customer experience is first class for anyone attending the office WHO YOU ARE Degree qualified in Human Resources or related discipline Minimum 10 years’ experience in HR preferably in a generalist role Experience working within a Retail environment or brand highly regarded Previous experience managing a team and coaching and developing team members Proven experience in complex performance management and employee relations cases Experience designing and delivering training to suit business challenges Excellent communication both verbal and written Intermediate Microsoft Office skills WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
