Operating 24 hours a day, RFDS delivers over 225 occasions of care daily. With a dedicated team of over 500 professionals, including pilots, doctors, engineers, allied health professionals, and administrative staff, the RFDS ensures comprehensive healthcare access for all. Services range from aeromedical retrievals to primary health care clinics, mental health consultations, oral health care, and telehealth services, delivering the finest care to the furthest corner. In the last financial year alone, the team delivered more than 25,900 consultations at GP and nurse clinics across the state and transferred more than 12,850 patients via the aeromedical service. As the RFDS (Queensland Section) approaches its 100th anniversary in 2028, this is a pivotal time to join the organisation and contribute to making a meaningful difference for those living, working, and travelling across regional, rural, and remote Queensland. Your new role Reporting to the Executive General Manager of Commercial & Corporate Affairs, the General Manager - Primary Health Services (GM) will be responsible for the implementation of the Primary Healthcare strategy of the business and assist in coordinating cross-functional operations units within a matrix structure. This role will implement strategies to enhance and develop commercial partnerships that are profitable and generate growth in the Primary Healthcare areas. The GM will lead the Primary Health Services business unit with a focus on growth, managing contracts and overseeing operations to ensure the effective delivery of services. What you'll need to succeed Tertiary or other relevant qualifications and / or demonstrated experience in the field of Health and / or commercial enterprises. Experience in operational oversight and contract management. Demonstrated experience in business development and building new relationships, partnerships and customer bases. Ability to operate strategically with an ability to problem solve, support and understand challenges at the operational level. Significant leadership and management experience with people management, and matrix structures. Proven stakeholder relationship management skills, and ability to build relationships and strategic partnerships with RFDS stakeholders including key government, non-government and statutory agencies. A detailed understanding of the health sector, including government health policies. Strong organisational, negotiation and project management skills.
