THE ROLE: Austrade is seeking an experienced individual at the EL1 level to join our Defence, Advanced Manufacturing and Space team as Global Engagement Manager (GEM) - Defence, to provide export assistance to Australian businesses, with a particular focus on services to Australian defence companies.The successful candidate will be part of the Technology and Defence Branch at Austrade, working with a portfolio of defence clients, supporting Austrade international programs and initiatives, to promote the international growth of export-ready Australian businesses.DUTIES INCLUDE: Work independently with a portfolio of select, high-growth Australian defence, advanced manufacturing and space businesses to provide export advice, business to business connections and drive commercial outcomes in international markets. This is delivered in collaboration with relevant commonwealth agencies, Austrade's global network of staff, alongside industry, state and territory government stakeholders. Support the successful delivery of international programs (such as Team Defence Australia events and other trade missions), working in partnership with relevant key stakeholders and Austrade’s offshore network. Monitor critical sectoral issues, trends and policy developments. Use this insight to build the global network capability to promote Australian opportunities and to deliver quality advice and services for Australian companies and potential investors. Develop and maintain quality connections with Australia's defence industry stakeholders and understand the nature of the ecosystem. Represent Austrade and Australia in corporate and government settings, to identify and connect with potential Austrade clients, and support Australian government objectives. Work collaboratively with colleagues in Austrade's global network as well as in state and territory government trade promotion agencies. Use Austrade's CRM and other digital systems to track and support client engagement. Opportunity as a GEM to supervise one or more staff, to ensure effective output and on-the-job development.
