The position provides a structured 12-month program, designed to enhance your skills under the mentorship of experienced conservators, with responsibilities ranging from conservation treatments and research projects to client liaison and general laboratory tasks. This role not only contributes to the delivery of high-quality conservation work but also supports professional growth through hands-on experience and the completion of a research project for potential publication. Your Responsibilities Completing a 12-month programme of conservation treatments and project work, under supervision, while observing and participating in treatment decision-making. Supporting team members in delivering complex conservation treatments, assisting with client liaison, and contributing to quotations and key client relationships. Conducting a research project in consultation with the Team Leader, with a focus on completion within time constraints and potential for publication. Performing general lab maintenance, including preparing stock solutions, cleaning equipment, managing documentation, and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. Minimum Qualifications A recognised tertiary qualification in conservation (completed within the last three years) with a demonstrated aptitude for paper and book conservation. A high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in repetitive tasks and meticulous delivery of conservation treatments. The ability to independently manage projects within defined limits and complete a conservation research project within a specified timeframe. Proficiency in standard office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) with the capacity to quickly adapt to new software applications. This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
