Position Summary The Graduate Engineer/ Project Officer is responsible for supporting the team with capital projects, asset engineering and management, homelands projects, and project management under the direction of the Senior Project Manager. The key duties of this role include but are not limited to: Assist in planning, designing, and implementing community infrastructure projects such as roads, drainage systems, and public amenities. Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with plans and standards. Provide basic technical support to Senior Project Managers and contractors. Support the maintenance of existing Council infrastructure, assisting with identifying areas requiring urgent repairs. Assist in preparing schedules for regular maintenance and overseeing execution. Document and report on maintenance activities. Ensure engineering projects comply with Australian standards, local regulations, and Council policies. Assist in preparing reports, technical drawings, and cost estimates. Maintain accurate records of project activities, budgets, and materials. Ensure adherence to environmental sustainability practices in Council projects. Assist in implementing workplace health and safety standards on-site. Raise Purchase Orders in accordance with Procurement Policies and Finance Department requirements. Ensure compliance with Council’s financial procedures and approval processes. Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and associated documentation. Liaise with suppliers to confirm orders, delivery schedules, and invoicing accuracy. Assist in preparing budgets and financial reports for engineering projects. Monitor expenses to ensure projects stay within allocated budgets. Travel to the West Daly Region by plane or via road for site inspections. Conduct site inspections, assess infrastructure conditions, and take photos for records. Assist with acquittals for grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance with funding requirements. Collaborate with the Grants Manager on reporting and documentation for grant programs. Support project planning and delivery for Homelands and Local Authority initiatives. Liaise with contractors, community members, and stakeholders to facilitate project implementation. About You To be successful in the role, you must have: Bachelor of Engineering /Project Management recognised by Engineers Australia or AIPM or near completion. 0-2 years’ experience in engineering, drafting, designing, estimations, trades, consulting or similar would be advantageous, though no prior experience is required for entry into the role. A great understanding of the engineering first principles in civil engineering. Current National Criminal History Check. Working with Children (OCHRE) Card. Current manual NT Drivers Licence.
