Based at our Newstead office, the Graduate Policy Analyst will contribute to the development of an evidence base that supports effective regulation of the heavy vehicle industry, resulting in safer road transport operations, increased productivity and sustainability. Key responsibilities of this role are: Support the team, and the NHVR more broadly, to develop, deliver, monitor and review projects, policies and advice to advance the NHVR’s legislative and strategic objectives, particularly in relation to safety. Undertake research and analysis to aid informed decision-making on a variety of issues relevant to the NHVR and its stakeholders. Contribute to the development of papers, reports, policies, options analysis, briefings, submissions, presentations and correspondence. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders. Collaborate effectively with various teams across the NHVR while also being able to work independently. NHVR’s Safety and Productivity team are currently undertaking growth and considerable transformation, and this is an exciting time to join the organisation. About You To be successful in this role you will possess: Be a recent Graduate (within the last 2 years). Hold a Tertiary qualification in psychology, safety, public policy or related discipline. Ability to conceptualise problems, undertake research, analyse data, extract meaningful insights, and present findings. Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely, and tailor outputs to different audiences. Be solutions focused and have a “think outside of the box” type of mindset. The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.
