Job Description

Graduate Quantity Surveyor Role Overview We are seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team. As a graduate, you will work closely with senior quantity surveyors to support the management of costs, contracts, and project budgets for renewable energy infrastructure projects, including high-voltage and low-voltage systems. Duties and Responsibilities Cost Management : Assist in the preparation and management of cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for renewable energy projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Tendering and Procurement : Support the tendering process, including preparing and reviewing tender documents, and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and negotiate terms. Contract Administration : Assist in managing contracts, ensuring compliance with agreed terms, and identifying and addressing any issues that arise during the contract lifecycle. Project Monitoring : Monitor and track project costs, expenditures, and cash flow, ensuring that any variations or discrepancies are identified and addressed promptly. Risk Management : Help identify project risks, including cost-related risks, and work with the project team to implement strategies to mitigate these risks. Reporting : Prepare and present regular progress reports on costs, budgets, and financial performance to senior management and stakeholders. Learning & Development : Participate in professional development activities, including attending relevant training and working towards chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g., RICS). Collaboration : Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure that financial and contractual aspects of the projects are aligned with the overall objectives. Skills and Experience: Educational Qualifications: A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. A keen interest in renewable energy and infrastructure projects. A basic understanding of quantity surveying principles, cost estimation, and project management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and experience with quantity surveying software is a plus. Strong analytical and numerical skills with an attention to detail. Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to managing project finances. Desirable but not essential: Knowledge or interest in the renewable energy sector, particularly within the areas of high-voltage and low-voltage electrical infrastructure. Any previous work experience or internships in quantity surveying or construction.
