Grants & Sponsorships Officer (0.6 FTE, Fixed Term) Location: Callaghan Campus, Newcastle, NSW Applications assessed on a rolling basis – Apply early! Final closing date: 3 weeks from date of advertisement Are you a skilled grant writer and sponsorship expert with a passion for securing funding that makes a real impact? UNSA (University of Newcastle Students' Association) is looking for a Grants & Sponsorships Officer to drive our external funding efforts. This is a part-time (22 hours p/wk), fixed-term role (12 months + option for a further 12 months), ideal for someone looking to leverage their expertise in grants, sponsorships, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to a vibrant student community. About the Role Reporting to the Senior Manager (Marketing & Communications), you will be responsible for identifying, applying for, and managing grants and sponsorships to support UNSA’s programs and initiatives. This role involves building strong relationships with councils, funding bodies, and external organisations to ensure alignment with UNSA’s mission and strategic objectives. What You'll Do Funding Research & Acquisition: Proactively identify and apply for grants and sponsorships from councils, external organisations, and funding bodies. Proposal Writing: Develop compelling proposals that clearly communicate UNSA’s vision and impact. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with funding partners and sponsors. Project Management: Oversee the full grant and sponsorship cycle—from research and submission to compliance and reporting. Collaboration: Work with internal teams to align funding opportunities with existing UNSA programs and events. What We're Looking For We’re looking for a proactive and results-driven individual who has: Proven experience in securing grants and sponsorships through well-researched and persuasive applications. Exceptional writing skills for funding proposals and reports. Strong relationship-building abilities to engage with councils, businesses, and funding bodies. Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple applications and ensure compliance. The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Desirable (but not essential): Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Business, Law, or a related field. Experience working within the higher education or not-for-profit sector. A passion for student services and community engagement. Other Requirements: A valid NSW Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle (occasional travel between campuses may be required). Additional certifications in grant writing, sponsorship management, or project management are highly regarded. Why Join UNSA?
