School Address: PO Box 10 Joondalup WA 6919 Position Details Grounds and Maintenance Officer Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a full-time, ongoing Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join the College’s Maintenance Team, commencing as soon as possible. The Grounds and Maintenance Officer is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Property Manager to ensure the effective and safe operation of the College. We are seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and confident individual who is committed to providing a range of services to ensure tasks are completed within necessary time-frames. Selection Criteria The Grounds and Maintenance Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are inclusive of but not limited to: Undertaking various maintenance requests with other maintenance staff and managing maintenance requests through the maintenance helpdesk in the absence of the Property Manager within a timely manner. Assisting the Property Manager with tasks relating to major building or refurbishment works if required. Ensuring College grounds are maintained in a clean, healthy, tidy state that provides staff and students with a safe external learning environment, ensuring compliance with occupational, health and safety legislation. Liaising with suppliers when required and organising deliveries to various parts of the College when required. Assisting with setting up venues for College activities which may include, but is not limited to, the movement of furniture, lighting requirements, and lock-up procedures. About You: The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos. The successful applicant will also demonstrate a high level of knowledge for Occupational, Workplace Health and Safety policies and safe work practices too. The Grounds and Maintenance Officer will work well both independently as well as within a group and will also demonstrate the ability to relieve the Property Manager if required. Qualifications Required Terms of Employment: Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC). Hold a current National Police Clearance from the Department of Education. Annually complete the online Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training. Hold or be working towards an Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School. Highly Desirable: Relevant trade qualifications or experience in a grounds/maintenance team. A working knowledge and capacity to maintain WHS policies and safe working practices. Experience of working in a team environment with a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to prioritise with a high level of time management and organisational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to be flexible and confident in different situations and to provide assistance across a variety of tasks. Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
