Guidance Officer - St George State High School Education (Organisation site )Darling Downs South West Region, School and Regional Operations and Performance Division The Wellbeing Workforce initiative has been established to support Queensland state schools and their students. The additional wellbeing professionals provided through this initiative will ensure every Queensland state school student has access to support for their wellbeing at school. As part of this initiative, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) for a permanent full-time vacancy in the St George area. This role is based at St George providing service to a circuit of schools, including the communities of St George, Dirranbandi, Hebel, Begonia, Bollon and Thallon. The role also has a component of regional tele-practice service delivery. Guidance Officers based in St George are supported with access to fleet vehicles. Subsidised housing and incentives are available to teachers based in St George. About the Role The Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) role is a specialised guidance role, with a particular focus on therapeutic support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. The role will deliver a range of services to the school communities, with a key aspect being to provide counselling and structured wellbeing supports to students. The Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) will support students with a range of personal and social issues, such as addressing mental health concerns, managing peer and family relationships, and improving engagement with schooling. With this specific focus on wellbeing support, the Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) has a narrower focus of the Guidance Officer role. The Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) works closely with Principals, leadership teams, community agencies, and the student support team, including other Guidance Officers within the school. A 2-page response outlining your suitability to the Guidance Officer - Wellbeing role against the Guidance Officer role description, demonstrating your knowledge of, and experience in delivering, therapeutic wellbeing interventions to students; any other relevant wellbeing-related practice you've undertaken; and any training and professional development you've completed with a focus on student wellbeing. Attach a copy of your academic transcript to demonstrate mandatory requirements for Guidance Officer position.
