HSW Safety Specialist – Gold Coast Private and Tweed Day Surgery Health, Safety and Wellbeing Specialist Gold Coast Private Hospital Healthscope are Australia’s only national private hospital operator. About the Role: The Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Specialist has overall responsibility for the development of the Site HSW Improvement Plan for Gold Coast Private Hospital. The role partners with and supports the Hospital Executive Team, Managers, Supervisors, and Health and Safety Committees (HSC) to deliver the Site Improvement Plan. They provide management system technical advice and support to drive compliance with the HSW Strategy, Management System, Regulatory frameworks, and accreditation requirements. Key Accountabilities: Provide direction, support, and leadership to the Hospital Executive Team in the achievement of HSW objectives and goals. Build capability and enhance accountability for safety among managers, supervisors, and HSC members through coaching and influencing to implement and embed Healthscope’s HSW Management System and programs. Display and promote HSW practices through active field-based leadership and engagement. Drive safe systems of work, quality incident investigations, and the delivery of visible and felt leadership through the implementation of education, coaching, and monitoring programs. Consult with managers, supervisors, HSC, contractors, and third parties on brownfield and operational safety issues and provide advice and assistance in identifying opportunities and solutions that enhance HSW outcomes. Participate and contribute to risk management activities including facilitating risk and workplace assessments, contributing to the development of SOPs, conducting control verification, participating in assurance activities, and leading LTI investigations. Conduct performance monitoring activities such as preparation of site HSW reports. Develop, implement, and monitor gap closure plans in consultation with the Hospital Executive Team. Monitor and review Site HSW performance with the Hospital Executive Team to identify and act on trends, hotspots, and celebrate success. Participate in regulator inspections pertaining to HSW. Participate and contribute to State and National delivery of strategic programs and initiatives, forums, and advisory committees to drive HSW improvements. Why Healthscope? Qualifications for Success: Mandatory: Diploma in Work, Health and Safety or higher. Vehicle driver's license appropriate to the State or Territory. Incident and Investigation training, e.g. ICAM or similar. Experience working in Healthcare. Auditing Qualification. Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
