The role The Head of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs will lead Crown Sydney’s compliance and regulatory affairs function, working collaboratively across the business to ensure compliance with applicable obligations and uplift overall compliance maturity. This role requires someone who does not take a strict second line approach to compliance but instead enjoys being hands-on – partnering closely with the business to create sustainable and compliant solutions. Reporting to the General Manager, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs, this role plays a critical part in Crown Sydney’s overall success, by strengthening its compliance maturity, fostering strong regulatory relationships and ensuring all compliance and regulatory requirements are met. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Strategic Compliance Leadership Support implementation of Crown Sydney’s compliance management strategy ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements and the unique challenges of gaming and non-gaming operations. Maintain, implement and evolve Crown’s compliance management framework. Work closely with counterparts in other Crown properties to ensure compliance management is embedded consistently into operational policies, procedures and continuous improvement opportunities are realised. Trusted advisor to the executive leadership team, providing timely and commercially astute advice. Lead by example, share knowledge and coach/mentor diverse team. Uplift compliance capability across the organisation by leading regular information sharing sessions and training. Compliance Management, Regulatory Engagement & Business Advisory Provide expert compliance and regulatory advice to a range of stakeholders, including senior management and executive leadership team. Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant legislation, internal control manuals and corporate policies. Partner with stakeholders to embed an effective and robust control environment, in line with regulatory standards and expectations. Maintain a proactive and constructive relationship with NSW regulators, L&GNSW and the NICC. Prepare timely, high-quality reporting to Executive/Board Committee and the regulator. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to prepare timely, high-quality submissions to the regulator. Oversee incident management, breach reporting and licensing notifications to the regulator. Regulatory Change Subject matter expert on key regulatory change and transformation projects. Lead the regulatory change process to ensure effective operationalisation of new and changed obligations. Engage constructively with NSW regulators on proposed legislative or regulatory changes. Effectively engage with operational departments to communicate compliance and regulatory requirements and provide guidance on training and other change management activities. Prepare relevant updates to senior stakeholders including CEO, Executive Committee, Board Committees. About you Extensive experience and expert knowledge in managing compliance and regulatory affairs in a highly regulated environment. Demonstrable knowledge and track record of effective engagement with regulators. Proven ability to guide and challenge senior stakeholders across diverse business units. Proven leadership skills and complex problem-solving expertise. Advanced ability to advise, influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders. Well-developed analytical and report/submission writing capability. Degree or other qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Economics, Business Management, Accounting, Commerce) (desirable). Strong knowledge and understanding of the NSW gaming regulatory framework, casino operations, policies and procedures (desirable).
