Head of Department - English - Biloela State High School Education (Organisation site)Central Queensland Region, School and Regional Operations and Performance Division An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and dynamic educator to join the team at Biloela State High School, as Head of Department English. This position is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in English teaching, curriculum leadership, and a passion for supporting teachers in their professional growth. The position is permanent full-time, from Term 2, 2025. About Biloela State High School Biloela is located 125 km west of Gladstone in the Callide Valley. Students come from eight primary schools in the area including two non-state schools. The school is situated on a large site with two ovals, two basketball courts, and a large covered area. A 13.5 ha farm is attached to the school and provides the area for Agriculture Science and Horticulture Programs. The school has an extensive range of curriculum offerings, with growing flexibility for students in the senior phase. TAFE link courses, school-based traineeships, structured work placements, and alternative programs for students all contribute to a diverse and futures-orientated approach to schooling. We have Special Education facilities to service our school community. Our experienced staff work closely with students, staff, and parents to build learning opportunities for all students. About the Role As the Head of Department English you will have responsibility for (but not limited to) the following: Lead the English faculty to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of V9 Australian Curriculum and Senior English syllabus. Embed socially just practices in daily school life. Set high standards for student and staff performance. Develop the quality of teaching and learning within your department. Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, and stakeholders. Manage student behaviour in the English faculty. Manage the human, financial, and physical resources of the faculty. Interested?
