Head of Product & Underwriting, Health, Australia Opportunity Overview This is a fantastic opportunity to join Allianz Partners Australia as the Head of Product and Underwriting within our Health division. You will be leading a high-performing team of 5 employees covering Pricing, Portfolio Monitoring, Case Underwriting, Technical Product Governance, Risk, and Compliance. The opportunity has arisen due to a recent promotion in the team and will report into the Executive Head of Health for Australia. We are a global organisation and operate in a matrix structure with matrix reporting through to the Regional Head of Group Underwriting, Health, APAC. You will also be a Senior Leader within our global International Health community and the Australian business supporting the effectiveness of the Product and Underwriting Community. What experience we require Full leadership responsibility for the Health Pricing, Portfolio Monitoring, Case Underwriting, and Technical Product (Governance) for the successful delivery of product pricing and development. Contribute to the overall strategic planning process to enable Allianz Partners to maximize business opportunities. Identify, analyze, and provide recommendations on product, underwriting, and practicing strategies/systems that optimize profitability and are aligned to the company's strategic direction. Delivery of the financial plan for the International Health line of the business. Ability to attract talent, build & expand the team whilst growing the current team ensuring they are able to develop career paths and expansion of skills. Demonstrate leadership across the organization, Industry Groups, and to the Executive leadership on issues as required. Foster an environment of continuous improvement in technical underwriting, pricing, capability, and execution. Product and Product Governance: Product development that delivers sustainable customer-centric outcomes to reflect current or future regulatory legislation and/or changing market conditions. Ensure that any product development, modification, or termination is undertaken in accordance with the Product Governance Framework. Monitor regulatory requirements to ensure appropriate documentation protocols are maintained. Ensure the product suite aligns to the Group principle of 'Total Simplicity.' In conjunction with Sales and Market Management teams, support the development of new products in alignment with strategy. Provide governance and oversight of our Underwriting Agency Obligations with our Fronter. Underwriting Pricing and Portfolio Monitoring Develop, communicate, and implement the technical product, pricing, and underwriting practice models to achieve profitability and revenue growth targets for Allianz Worldwide Partners Australia. Develop pricing capabilities and underwriting performance reporting with a focus on continuous improvement of these as well as risk models and market price conditions, and adhere to the company's technical pricing process which would include: Preparation of pricing reviews, portfolio and partner reports as well as management reporting. Ensure Allianz Partners follow the statutory obligations by the timely preparation and submission of returns and reports requiring actuarial authorization or approval. Provide actuarial counsel and advice to Senior Management. Risk and Compliance Adhere to risk and compliance obligations as well as company process, policies, and training requirements which would include risk assessments and risk management practices into business practices. Integrate compliance obligations, risk assessment, and the risk management process into business practices. Identification and documentation process on risk and compliance procedures in operational areas including rates and updates of testing. Proposal of changes to existing or introduction of new policies and procedures to optimize and manage the risk related to product and underwriting. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or related field or equivalent combination of work and education experience. 5+ years across actuarial work or other translatable insurance experience. 5+ years program group underwriting experience taking high-frequency short tail risk. Demonstrated experience building a strong team culture of highly engaged and highly productive teams. Previous functional, project management, and leadership experience in a highly collaborative and global matrixed environment. Strong ability to influence and negotiate with a willingness to involve others in the decision-making process. Extensive knowledge of insurance laws, legislation, regulation, and standards.
