About the Role Reporting to the National Jet Express CASR Part 119 Accountable Manager, the Head of Safety and Quality is responsible for managing and advancing safety and quality standards within the business and actively engaging with stakeholders to promote and highlight the company’s commitment to providing a safe and quality service. This position is open to candidates in Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane . Key Duties & Responsibilities Hold sufficient relevant safety management experience and regulatory knowledge to capably lead, manage, and set standards to enable NJE to safely implement the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS). A satisfactory record in the conduct or management of air operations. Ability to hold and maintain the ‘key personnel’ role of HSQ (Safety Manager), as defined in the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998. Hold an accreditation as an Aircraft Accident / Incident Investigator or equivalent. Hold an accreditation as a Safety and Lead Auditor. Manage the Safety Management System, including corrective and preventive actions. Ensure compliance and continuous improvement of QAMS, ERP, EMP, DAMP, and SMSM. Develop operational policies and procedures to meet client, company, and legislative requirements. Identify operational weaknesses and recommend improvements. Maintain safety-related reports, risk registers, and ensure accurate record-keeping. Assist in injury/claims management and rehabilitation processes. Mentor staff to foster a positive safety culture. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and collaborate with agencies. Coordinate safety programs, audits, and disseminate information internally and externally. Drive the organisation towards achieving zero harm through active participation in safety programs. Ensure staff adherence to SMS processes and procedures, offering direction and resources while monitoring safety performance. Assist in developing and implementing regular safety campaigns and publications. Support change management and conduct risk assessments with the management team. Oversee the safety database and risk register, producing accurate monthly and quarterly reports. Cultivate effective relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally. Provide expert advice on safety data analysis and interpretation. Assist in conducting surveys on safety, risk, and compliance issues. Collaborate with the HSQ to produce insightful monthly and quarterly reports and trend analysis. Skills and Experience Required Comprehensive knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and the CASA SMS Framework. Certified Lead Investigator in Safety Investigations. Accredited as an Aircraft Accident/Incident Investigator or equivalent qualification. Auditor qualification in Quality Assurance or Safety Auditing within a related field. Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a comparable discipline. Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Proven expertise in conducting safety and compliance audits, supported by relevant training or certifications. Certified Lead Auditor in quality management or an aviation-related discipline. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs. At least two years of operational experience in the aviation industry, focusing on safety or operational roles.
