Base pay range A$125.00/hr - A$162.00/hr Ready to Take on a Security Leadership Challenge? We’re looking for an experienced security professional to help uplift our security practices, guide our team, and leave a lasting impact on our organisation. This is a 6–12 month contract role, paying up to $1,300/day , based out of Melbourne with hybrid working (3 days in-office). Our journey has been one of growth and transformation. We’re a smaller organisation with a relatively immature security function—but that’s where you come in. You’ll work closely with our Head of Engineering and Co-Founder to ensure security isn’t just a tick-box but a core part of what we do. We have been around for 25 years so take this maturity step seriously! What You’ll Be Doing Embedding security into everything: Partner with teams across the organisation to make security a seamless part of the development lifecycle. Incident response and triage: Be the go-to expert when things go wrong. Lead containment and recovery efforts, and ensure we’re better prepared for the next challenge. Raising the bar: Design security standards, tackle risks, and implement practical solutions that align with our product and engineering practices. Mentoring and uplifting: Help our engineers grow by sharing your expertise in secure coding, threat modelling, and vulnerability management. Collaborating and influencing: Work with stakeholders, including leadership, to build trust, win buy-in, and balance priorities for security, product, and business needs. What We’re Looking For A consultative leader who knows how to work with founders and adapt to change. Strong experience in incident response, risk management, and vulnerability assessment. Someone who can triage effectively and prioritise critical fixes without reinventing the wheel. A strategic mindset—able to take our security practice from where it is today to where it needs to be. A hands-on problem solver who knows when to push and when to pull, balancing influence with action. Product-focused thinking with the ability to align security with engineering goals. Why This Role?
