Job Title: Head of Strategy and Operations Reports To: Board of Directors Job Type: Permanent, Part-Time (0.6 FTE or similar commitment) Role Overview The Head of Strategy and Operations will lead the strategic and operational functions of Still Aware, ensuring that the organisation achieves sustainable growth, operational excellence, and fulfils its mission to end preventable stillbirth through education and awareness. This leadership role is critical in driving grant writing efforts, diversifying revenue streams, driving clinical and educational impact, overseeing financial sustainability, and optimising HR and leadership functions. Key Responsibilities Grant Writing and Revenue Development Develop, manage, and submit compelling grant proposals to secure funding opportunities aligned with The Organisation’s mission. Build and maintain relationships with grant providers, ensuring long-term partnerships. Identify, create, and execute innovative strategies to source new revenue streams, including corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and community programs. Collaborate with the Fundraising and Events Manager to integrate grant funding strategies with event-based fundraising efforts. Strategic Leadership Lead the creation and implementation of the 12-month Fundraising and Education Plan and the 3-Year Strategic Plan. Oversee the development of organisational objectives, ensuring alignment with Still Aware’s goals and values. Act as a key representative for Still Aware in building partnerships with government bodies, corporate stakeholders, and the medical community. Guide sustainable fundraising and operational strategies to ensure the charity’s long-term viability. Ensure financial sustainability by monitoring budgets, approving expenditures, and preparing quarterly financial reports. Work closely with the Charity Coordinator and external accountants to maintain accuracy in financial reporting (Xero management, accounts reconciliation). Drive cost-saving initiatives and ensure financial resources are optimised for mission-critical activities. Oversee payroll, expense reimbursements, and the financial aspects of event execution. Operational Management Oversee daily operations to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, including office management and volunteer coordination. Streamline processes to enhance efficiency, particularly in administrative and fundraising activities. Collaborate with the team to maintain a productive, ethical, and mission-driven workplace culture. Human Resources Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to build a high-performing team. Conduct regular performance reviews, ensuring alignment with organisational KPIs. Provide leadership development opportunities for employees and volunteers to foster growth and collaboration. Oversee volunteer engagement strategies to build and sustain a skilled and motivated volunteer workforce. Act as the main liaison to the Board of Directors, presenting quarterly reports on financial performance, operational metrics, and strategic initiatives. Provide insights and recommendations to the board on organisational growth opportunities and risk mitigation strategies. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Growth in partnerships and community outreach impact. Growth in clinical and educational impact. Success in securing grant funding and diversification of revenue streams. Achievement of strategic plan milestones within specified timelines. Positive financial performance aligned with budget forecasts. High employee and volunteer engagement levels, evidenced by retention rates and feedback. Qualifications and Skills Proven experience in non-profit leadership, with a strong track record in grant writing and revenue generation. Excellent strategic planning and operational management skills. Financial acumen with experience in budget preparation, financial reporting, and cost management. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team in a values-driven organisation.
