About The Role Rare Cancers Australia is embarking on an innovative initiative to establish a Telehealth Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP) for individuals diagnosed with rare cancers, particularly for priority populations. The Health Promotion Officer will lead support the promotion and awareness efforts for this program, ensuring its accessibility and impact on the target population. The ANCCP will provide remote access to specialised cancer nursing and navigation support for patients across Australia. Reporting to the Education and Outreach Manager, your key responsibilities will include: Develop Health Promotion Strategies Identify key messages and communication channels to effectively reach and engage the target audience, leveraging traditional media, social media, websites, and other digital platforms. Community Engagement Build and maintain relationships with community organisations, patient advocacy groups, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to promote the program and foster partnerships for outreach and education initiatives. Organise community events, workshops, and educational sessions to raise awareness of rare cancers, promote early detection, and encourage participation in the telehealth program. Evaluation And Reporting Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health promotion activities and initiatives, collecting feedback and data to assess program reach, engagement, and impact. Generate regular reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, summarising key findings, lessons learned, and recommendations for future initiatives. General Project Support Work closely and support the Project Manager and the Education and Outreach Manager with relevant projects, including any administrative tasks. This role is offered with a maximum term of 2 years aligned with government funding. However, opportunities for extension or permanency may arise during the contract term. About You As someone with previous experience in the healthcare industry, you will possess a passion for making a positive impact in supporting people with rare and less common cancers and having a positive attitude and approach that reflect RCA’s missions and values. Furthermore, you will have a high level of adaptability, resilience, emotional intelligence, stakeholder management, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organisational setting with a proven ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders. To be considered for this role, you must have relevant experience, skills, knowledge of the healthcare industry, and the required qualifications/certificates: Tertiary qualifications in public health, health promotion, communications, or a related field. Experience in health promotion, communications, or marketing, preferably in the healthcare or nonprofit sector. Strong understanding of health promotion principles, social determinants of health, and behaviour change theories. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences. Excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail. Experience in building and maintaining networks with health and priority population providers. Demonstrated experience in working with clients in another language and/or with an interpreter and sensitivity to the needs of people from CALD backgrounds. Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management, email marketing, and website content management systems. Availability to travel interstate to engage with priority populations face-to-face. Have your own vehicle and be willing to undertake frequent intrastate and interstate travel. Desirable Skills And Experience Knowledge of cancer care and rare cancer issues. Demonstrate transcultural knowledge and experience. Professional language proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, and/or Greek.
