Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager Refuel Australia is a respected distributor of quality Ampol fuels and lubricants throughout the Pilbara, Midwest, Gascoyne and Murchison areas of Western Australia and the Northern Territory from Darwin to Alice Springs. The company has been in the fuel distribution industry for over 24 years, running a modern fleet of trucks and tankers and employing over 120 people. At Refuel Australia, our people are the greatest contributors to our success. We are currently offering an opportunity for a HSE Manager to join our team, working from our Geraldton head office . About the role We are seeking a suitably experienced and dynamic HSE Manager to drive overall HSE performance, initiatives, and improvements. The role is Geraldton based; however, it will require regular travel to Refuel Australia sites in WA and the Northern Territory. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be given the responsibility and authority to lead continuous improvement and ensure compliance with the current HSE systems and the transport and dangerous goods industry standards while working towards the improvement of systems and culture. Duties: Monitor existing and incoming legislation and regulations on health, safety, and environment to ensure compliance. Implement strategy for improving risk management and safety performance by developing and implementing HSE policies, plans, programs, and safe work systems. Manage health, safety, and environmental management systems including policies, procedures manuals, and practices. Coach and mentor Refuel Australia management team and their teams. Drive HSE compliance and ensure systems are in place for safe operations. Develop and manage environmental programs, waste reduction, and sustainability initiatives. Assess and ensure the safety and quality standards of suppliers and contractors. Conduct internal safety audits, inspections, and reporting. Follow up on non-conformances through to corrective actions and closure. Facilitate the development of work instructions for operations teams. Deliver new starter HSE inductions. Coordinate and investigate all injuries, safety incidents, and near misses. Work with managers to ensure injury management and return to work programs are managed effectively. Develop and implement HSE improvement projects. Drive continuous improvement by promoting HSE policies and procedures. Coordinate, maintain, and deliver effective safety training. Produce monthly and quarterly safety reporting. Ability to be ‘on call’ outside standard business hours. Experience and qualifications Relevant and recent previous HSE management experience in the bulk fuel transport and distribution industry. Qualification in Workplace Health and Safety desirable. Minimum 4 years' experience in HSE policies, procedures, auditing within the transport industry or similar environment. Demonstrated experience in implementing health and safety management systems. Excellent communication skills including strong negotiation and influencing skills. Experience in development and application of safety training plans. Strong attention to detail and ability to plan, prioritise, and organise work demands. Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce high-level reports and documentation. Self-motivated, resilient, and resourceful personality. Willingness to travel extensively throughout regional WA and into the Northern Territory. Current WA driver's licence.
