Hail Creek Mine is a large scale open cut coal mine located roughly 120 kilometres south-west of Mackay in the northern Bowen Basin mining region of central Queensland. With a long mine life of 20+ years producing primarily metallurgical coal products, Hail Creek is an inclusive workplace with a focus on safety, efficiency and productivity. We are currently seeking a dedicated Health Superintendent to oversee the development, implementation, and enhancement of "Best Practice" systems across occupational hygiene monitoring, health and wellbeing, fitness for work, and injury management. This pivotal role supports our commitment to operational excellence and employee welfare.As the Health Superintendent, you will lead the charge in maintaining occupational hygiene standards and implementing monitoring programs based on comprehensive baseline findings. You'll ensure compliance with health assessment requirements and develop robust fitness for work initiatives. Additionally, fostering a culture of health and wellbeing will be central, involving awareness campaigns, preventative strategies, and educational initiatives aimed at improving workforce morale and productivity.Your responsibilities will extend to managing site fatigue, impairment, and drug/alcohol monitoring systems, while also spearheading injury management processes such as early intervention and workers' compensation programs. Your leadership will be crucial in mentoring employees and senior leaders alike on health policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and Glencore's stringent requirements.ABOUT YOU: Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Health Science, or a related field Strong demonstrated experience in a similar role within the mining or heavy industry sectors Strong leadership skills Effective communication abilities Proactive approach to safety and operational efficiency are essential.
