It provides its employees with generous employment conditions and highly desirable lifestyle benefits including: Generous Superannuation plus up to 4% contribution matching Additional 2 days of leave per year Cockburn ARC membership 9 Day fortnight Health & Wellness programs About the Position Based at the City’s Operation Centre in Bibra Lake, our Operations and Maintenance department is seeking a proactive, positive, and safety-focused Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic to join our Fleet team to undertake all aspects of repairs and maintenance of the City’s fleet assets. The working environment includes a clean, modern, air-conditioned workshop with specialised tooling, pits, good facilities, showers, secure parking, and a dedicated friendly team. Our mechanics maintain a heavy fleet consisting of Volvos, Isuzu, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, and Hino trucks along with a variety of light fleet including Ford, Mitsubishi, and Isuzu. In addition to the City’s mobile fleet, there is a large variety of minor ancillary plant. The ideal applicant will work on all City assets, machines, and equipment which utilise complex electronic, mechanical, air, and hydraulic systems. A focus will be on ensuring a high standard of safe work practices, in accordance with the terms and conditions contained within the Service Level Agreement. Whilst based in Bibra Lake, field visits will be required should there be any breakdowns or service requirements. About You The successful applicant will have: Trade Certificate in Heavy Duty Mechanics, Plant Mechanics, or other relevant trade certificate Post-trade experience and knowledge in the service maintenance and repair of heavy-duty plant and equipment with specific emphasis on multi-functional hydraulic systems and/or general plant Current HR Class Drivers Licence Forklift licence or willingness to obtain Ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team A positive and proven safe work culture, working knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to Work, Health and Safety principles and practices Experience and skills in the basic use of computers, sufficient to use the electronic works and assets system Some degree of flexibility may be required for weekend or after-hour call outs High attention to detail completing required documentation About the City Cockburn is one of the major coastal cities found in the state of Western Australia.
