Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery, focusing on ensuring optimal performance and safety. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and conducting routine maintenance on all types of fleet equipment including but not limited to front end loaders, excavators, drag lines, ready-mix trucks, semi road tractors, and bulk cement trailers. Work performed in the shop and in the field as needed. This position supports multiple locations in Ohio - Sidney, Ludlow Falls, Fairborn, & West Carrollton as well as Richmond, IN. Main Responsibilities Adopt the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies Use diagnostic equipment, visual inspection, and other tools to diagnose faults or malfunctions to identify required repairs Repair and replace damaged or worn parts Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings as vital to ensure proper operation of equipment Install new ignition systems, change/charge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and make adjustments Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles Skills High school graduate or GED Technical school in related field a plus 3 or more years of experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic preferred Proven experience with Cat, Komatsu and Volvo equipment and diagnostic software Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment Basic computer skills, including ability to operate mobile devices (phone, tablet, etc.) and related applications General Requirements Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred Valid DOT medical card and/or ability to acquire Have own Mechanic’s tools Physical Requirements Able to lift or move up to 100 pounds Able to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl Able to work in high and sometimes confined spaces Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold Our company is not only an outstanding place to work, but we also have great benefits too!
