Honorary Clinical Observer - IMG Training Program Job posted: 21/01/2025 Location: Melbourne | Northern Metropolitan Job type: Temporary Organisation: Austin Health Occupation: Medical and Nursing Reference: 2546 EOI: International Medical Graduate (IMG) Education and Training Program 2025 About the Program Austin Health offers you an opportunity to be involved in a program of education for a period of 12 months to facilitate your Orientation into the Australian Healthcare System. This program includes a 10-week Supervised Observership placement rotating through different units within the hospital. You will also have access to a variety of education and learning opportunities. Over the 12 months you will have full access to the hospital education & the Austin Health Sciences Library. The 10-week Observership will rotate through different units: General Medicine, Surgery, Emergency, Aged Care and Psychiatry. You will be assigned into one of 3 cohorts over the 12 months consisting of 6 IMG Doctors in each intake. Australian Citizenship or Permanent Resident. Passed Australian Medical Council MCQ Examination Part 1. IELTS Test Pass (Average of 7 or above overall) or OET Pass (B or above in each category) that is less than 2 years old. Primary Medical Degree completed less than 10 years ago. Desired Criteria Passed AMC Clinical Examination Part 2. Completed a minimum of 12 weeks of full-time equivalent work over the last 3 years. Previously practiced Medicine for more than 2 years. How To Apply Applications will be open for a period of 2 weeks. Interviews will take place in March 2025 via Teams, date TBC. TERMS AND CONDITIONS The IMG Training Program will be for a period of 12 months and includes a 10-week Observership program which may cover a rotation through: Emergency, General Medicine, Surgery, Aged Care and Psychiatry. The IMG Training Program includes access to a variety of educational opportunities (IMG seminars / workshops, hospital Grand Rounds, weekly HMO and Intern education). Successful applicants will be notified end of March. A formal offer will be made and if accepted, must be signed, and returned within 5 working days. There will be 3 intakes of 6 IMG Observers over the 12 months - there is no guarantee which intake you will be placed into. Condition of Payment Payment of $5000 (inc GST) must be made within 14 days of the invoice being issued. If payment is not made within 14 days, the offer will be withdrawn and become void. Refunds will not be given once the applicant has accepted the formal offer. A separate contract must be agreed upon and signed. Successful applicants will be required to attend a compulsory orientation week and BLS assessment on the nominated date prior to their commencement. Applicants will be enrolled into a PMCV ‘Hit the Ground Running’ Program and must attend online and complete the Program 5th and 7th May. Austin Health name ID badges will be issued with the title ‘Honorary Clinical Observer’ and must be strictly worn when on campus. A certificate of completion will be issued upon successful completion of your 10-week Observership and 12-month Education and Training Program based on a 75% attendance rate. The 12-month training program does not guarantee employment at Austin Health. If you feel this role is right for you, we encourage your early application.
