WaterNSW Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia Hydrologic / Hydraulic Modeller (Term) WaterNSW is seeking an experienced Hydrologic / Hydraulic Modeller (Full-Time, Max Term) to join our Strategy & Performance, Operating Strategy team. This is an opportunity to work with an essential organisation creating a more sustainable future for the state. Note: We are looking to have the successful candidate commence with us in late March 2025 on a full-time, max-term basis until end of February 2026 / early March 2026. Our Perks And Benefits Flexible working Work a 9-day fortnight at Full pay on the Enterprise Agreement Up to 16 weeks paid parental leave Fertility leave Yearly corporate wear allowance Professional development and educational assistance Access to remote area benefit packaging – based on work location Attractive remuneration from $116,524 base + super What You’ll Do Undertake hydraulic modelling projects using hydraulic models, MIKE-Flood (MIKE 11, MIKE 21), HEC-RAS and TUFLOW as per requirement of the projects, coupled to the need to perform hydrologic modelling using programs like RORB. Use best modelling practice, procedures and guidelines in the industry and within WaterNSW to undertake projects/tasks as required under the guidance of team leads. Develop hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools, database and GIS for hydraulic/hydrologic modelling projects in accordance with project requirements and produce associated Technical Reports. Update and maintain the new and existing hydraulic models, modelling tools and products used for wide ranging applications in NSW. Work collaboratively and effectively, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high quality modelling outcomes for assigned projects and tasks. What We Are Looking For Relevant tertiary qualifications from an Australian educational institution in Hydraulic, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Computational Science or an equivalent/comparable overseas qualification. Experience and knowledge in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling utilising commercial software packages (e.g. RORB, DHI MIKE Suite (MIKE11, MIKE21 and MIKE-FLOOD), HEC-RAS and TUFLOW). Experience and knowledge in GIS utilising commercial software packages (e.g. Q-GIS, ArcGIS). Experience in technical report writing with a demonstrated ability to effectively explain complex scientific and modelling issues to colleagues, internal/external stakeholders, and research/industrial partners. Nice to Have: Coding and programming experience (e.g. in Python, R, MATLAB, C++, FORTRAN) and/or project management experience.
