This position is for a commercially focused individual, with a legal background, who is agile and capable of working in a fast-paced environment to assist with a variety of activities involving contract preparation, administration and management, governance, compliance and risk management. You will be the key point of contact within the organisation to assist with managing the contractual aspects of our organisation and also provide governance support to the General Counsel and Company Secretary. Location of the role is flexible, however success in the role will require spending time onsite, onboard vessels, at project sites, working from an office, or remotely from home. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to different environments are essential for this role. Metro Mining Limited (ASX:MMI) is an Australian exploration and mining company based in Brisbane. Metro’s flagship project, the Bauxite Hills Operation, located 95km north of Weipa, is one of the largest independent projects within the internationally acclaimed Weipa Bauxite Region. Role and responsibilities Working across the business, in this role you will be challenged with a diverse range of opportunities to contribute your skills and experience to supporting our operations. Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, some of the duties to be performed by this role include: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements and other legal documents such as supplier agreements, sales contracts, minor works contracts, leases, confidentiality agreements, etc. Providing commercial and solution-focussed advice to internal stakeholders on a range of issues including contracts, governance, legal compliance and regulatory matters. Oversight of dispute resolution processes and litigation management. Assisting with the management of corporate registers for the company and its subsidiaries. Assisting with the preparation of corporate reports and ASX announcements. Providing assistance and support to the General Counsel & Company Secretary in the drafting, review and distribution of Board and Committee papers. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including executives, project managers, and technical teams, to align with overall business objectives. To be considered for this opportunity you must have a good number of the following attributes: Law degree and admission to practice in Queensland as a solicitor. Minimum 5 years PQE, either in private practice or in house with a focus on corporate and commercial law. Previous experience in the mining and resources industry and / or marine and transhipping industry would be highly regarded together with previous experience with litigation and cross-border transactions. Previous corporate governance experience would be highly regarded. Strong business acumen, solution focused and commercial minded. Strong organisational, time management and attention to detail. Ability to build strong relationships and networks with key stakeholders whilst working collaboratively across a diverse and complex environment. Ability to bring people together, build relationships and manage conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner. Superior communication capabilities, with the ability to inform, negotiate and influence at all levels.
