Job Description

Role length: Sessional, 3 years Meetings: Quarterly with additional sessions as required, 1-2 hour meetings Location: Bendigo - Loddon area Salary: Salary not specified About the board The Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) provides independent assurance and advice to the Portable Long Service Authority (the Authority) Governing Board and Chief Executive Officer/Registrar on the effectiveness of the Authority's financial management systems and controls, performance and stability, compliance with laws and regulations, and risk management. The ARC aims to assist the Governing Board and the Authority to discharge its responsibility under the Financial Management Act 1994 and the associated Standing Directions of the Minister for Finance (2018) under the Act. The Committee provides an additional and independent forum for communication between the Governing Board and the senior financial staff. About the role Work program: Total annual program consists of 32.5 hours and will comprise: 4-5 ARC meetings of 2 hours at approximately 12.5 hours per annum; 2 hours preparations for ARC meeting at approximately 10 hours per annum; Any other duties as required at approximately 10 hours per annum. Location: Meetings conducted primarily online, occasional travel a possibility to the Authority’s offices in Melbourne CBD or Bendigo. Remuneration is in accordance with the Appointment and Remuneration Guidelines for Victorian Government Boards, Statutory Bodies and Advisory Committees . Who we're looking for The ARC seeks an independent member with appropriate qualifications and experience in: Public sector financial management, financial accounting and/or financial auditing; Investment and funds management; An understanding of compliance and risk management in a contemporary public sector environment; Knowledge of the Authority’s operations and the environment in which it operates.
