Individual Risk Valuation Manager (6 mth Fixed term contract) Full-time Welcome to This Australian Life. Please note this role is a 6 month Fixed Term contract. As an Individual Risk Valuation Manager for the Individual Risk business, you will lead a high performing multifaceted team responsible for actuarial valuation, driving organizational change initiatives and providing strategic insights derived from actuarial data. This role combines technical expertise in actuarial science with leadership in change management and strategic planning to optimize business performance and mitigate risks. Key Accountabilities: Actuarial Valuation: Oversee the actuarial valuation process for the Individual Risk business unit, including reserve calculations, compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting. Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reporting / actuarial reserving while staying abreast of industry standards and best practices. Insights Generation: Utilise actuarial expertise to derive actionable insights from financial data and modelling. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate insights to strategic recommendations. Develop and execute newly developed practices and technologies to present results and insights to senior stakeholders. Change Management: Lead organisational initiatives related to actuarial practices including internal process improvements, regulatory compliance, harmonisation of actuarial methodology and analysis. Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with different functional areas in developing data governance, model change testing frameworks in view of the strategic goals of the Finance function. Collaborate with IT teams to enhance analytical capability and infrastructure. Leadership: Mentor and develop a small team of recently qualified actuaries and analysts providing guidance on technical projects. Provide a key leadership role in the Individual Risk actuarial and wider Finance initiatives fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, finance partners, Appointed Actuary and auditors. Communicate actuarial findings and recommendations effectively to diverse audiences, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Minimum Requirements: Relevant tertiary qualifications: FIAA or equivalent at least 5 years post qualification experience Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Australian insurance and financial services market Demonstrated knowledge of statistical and actuarial modelling techniques Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Pro-active and ability to demonstrate change management in agile environment An analytical mindset and ability to interpret complex information Advanced knowledge of tableau, power BI and other analytics software Ability to challenge the status quo and existing processes / framework Growth mindset striving continuous improvement and efficiency Proven people management and leadership skills At TAL we value diversity in all its forms and are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable culture for all our people.
