The College commenced at the beginning of the 2014 school year with 143 students and has grown to a current size of 2,300 students and 250 staff. Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum. SC3: Ability to model the monitoring and assessment of student learning and support others in using data to inform teaching practice. SC4: Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, engaging in collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community. SC5: Ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and support others to reflect on their practice. Role Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning. They have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers, and facilitating school-based professional learning. Responsibilities The key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to: Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice. Modelling exemplary classroom practice through teaching demonstration lessons. Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice. Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies. Providing professional learning, including developing processes for observation and feedback of teacher practice. Modelling effective learning practice and supporting teachers in seeking and acting on feedback. Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff. Supervising and training student teachers and mentoring teachers. Modelling exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches. Developing school-wide professional learning structures.
