Job Description

We are a leading organisation offering a comprehensive suite of services to clients and the community across the Barwon, West Melbourne and Wimmera Regions. Providing specialist sexual assault and family violence programs and services, including 24-hour crisis care support, case management, therapeutic counselling, early intervention and professional education and training, we continue to grow and develop our offerings. Job Role This role is focused on the provision of specialised Intake services for the SAFV Centre programs delivered in the Barwon region. In addition to the intake and assessment function, brief intervention as part of the counselling service will also be provided by this role where this is clinically indicated. The intake function aims to promote recovery through the provision of efficient intake processes, risk assessment, crisis intervention, individual support, advocacy, secondary consultations, referrals and broader community linkages and services. As the first point of contact for members of the public and our organisation, it is important that the intake service provides a responsive, coordinated, person-centred response. The intake brief intervention position is a unique role, reports to a Team Leader, and is part of a team of highly skilled and qualified practitioners who focus on providing trauma informed care. The role will be required to work in collaboration with other organisations throughout the Barwon region including the Orange Door, MDC partners and University General Hospital. The position is based in Geelong, Victoria and may require travel to the University General Hospital and other outreach sites as required. The role reports to a Team Leader, is supported by a team of highly skilled and qualified practitioners, and receives regular clinical supervision and valuable peer and organisational support. The role is full time or part time - for a period of 12 months. Desired Skills and Experience With degree qualifications in psychology, family therapy or social work, you will be able to demonstrate experience in the delivery of therapeutic interventions, case management and risk assessment. With a comprehensive understanding of the issues relating to sexual assault and family violence within a gendered context, you have significant knowledge and expertise in working therapeutically with the dynamics and effects of interpersonal trauma.
