Laboratory Analyst - Sunshine Sugar Broadwater The role of the Lab Analyst is to carry out a variety of laboratory analytical tasks on factory products, by-products, raw sugar and syrups, and report accurate, reliable and timely information on process control, quality control and factory performance, EPA Licensing and efficiency to the Production Department while following the standard Laboratory Methods Manual. What's involved: Perform reliable and accurate analyses on factory products, by-products and environmental flows in a safe manner following the Laboratory Methods Manual. Maintain records and produce timely and accurate reports to assist production personnel to control factory efficiency and product output. Chemical and reagent preparation. Maintain weekly retention samples. Collect, collate and archive process log sheets. Perform calibrations and ongoing verification analysis. Assist with analyses of customer complaints. We are looking for: Relevant qualifications (Cert III Laboratory Techniques or better is highly regarded). Relevant industry experience in a laboratory environment. The ability to identify and rectify hazards with respect to WHS, environmental protection and food safety. Knowledge of and ability to work safely with hazardous materials and chemicals. Ability to communicate in a clear and constructive manner both verbally and in writing. Commitment and good attitude to safety and culture. Teamwork and willingness to co-operatively share knowledge and expertise. Ability to work in an environment with some exposure to noisy, and/or humid conditions. Flexibility to be available for overtime and weekend work when required. The ability to coordinate a number of activities. Risk assessment training and the ability to contribute to risk assessment and procedure development and review. Self-motivation with the ability to work with minimal supervision and to display a high degree of initiative.
