Direct message the job poster from Mantech Recruitment Engineering Recruitment Consultant Specialising in Electrical and Control Systems Title: Lead Power Systems Engineer Location: Hybrid - Brisbane, QLD About Us: Specialist with experience and technical knowledge of the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects from land acquisitions, development applications, feasibility studies, planning, design, network modelling, grid connection, operations and maintenance. They have a specialised knowledge in all areas of the power systems modelling including load flow analysis, power quality analysis, controller tuning, model validation, dynamic modelling and Generator Performance Standards (GPS) requirements under the National Electricity Rules (NER). We have expertise in all relevant software packages used by NEM participants including SINCAL, PowerFactory, PSS/E and PSCAD. Responsibilities: Lead the design and technical oversight of grid connections, substations, and generator integration (Wind, Solar, and other renewable sources). Conduct and review feasibility studies for Chapter 5 and Chapter 5A connection studies. Oversee power system modelling and connection studies in PSSE, PSCAD, Sincal, and PowerFactory, ensuring compliance with NSP and NER requirements. Manage relationships and negotiations with AEMO, NSPs, OEMs, and consultants to optimize connection and performance standards. Lead grid connection application meetings, representing OSA Engineering in technical discussions with key stakeholders. Develop strategies for streamlining the grid connection process and ensuring regulatory compliance. Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team. Oversee documentation, modelling data, and submission of grid connection applications. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree is highly regarded). Minimum 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on renewable energy grid connections. Extensive experience in PSSE and PSCAD for generator connection modelling. Strong expertise in Sincal and PowerFactory is highly valued. Proficiency in Python scripting for automation of model assessments. Demonstrated experience leading projects through the AEMO connection process and working with TNSPs and DNSPs on generator connections. Strong knowledge of power quality and harmonic assessments in PowerFactory. Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to engage with external stakeholders. Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet key milestones.
