Applications are invited for a qualified and enthusiastic Leader - Secondary Head of Year to join the MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter team. Contract Dates: Term 2 start - 22nd April 2025 (earlier start date possible)Employment Type: Full Time, Fixed Term Middle Leader Position - 3 years (This position holds a full-time, permanent substantive Teaching position) Salary Range: Commensurate with experience - Graduate $84,077 - Proficient 4 $104,841 FTE gross per annum, plus applicable Middle Leader Tier 2C allowance $15,799 gross per annum FTE OR Proficient 5 and above: $136,892 FTE gross per annumClosing Date for Applications: 12.00pm, Tuesday 4th March 2025 MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter MacKillop Catholic College , a master-planned Prep to Year 12 College located in the growing southern corridor of Cairns, was established in 2016 with Prep-Year 3 classes. The College has developed progressively, adding additional year levels annually, and commenced secondary education in 2020 with Year 7, and the first Year 12 cohort graduating in 2025. Guided by the authentic discipleship of Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross, and the Josephite tradition, our mission, to inspire hearts, minds and spirits, is grounded in the vision to provide quality 21st century education to the young people in our community. About the Role The role of the Leader - Head of Year is to support the mission of the school through leadership in the support of students as school and family community members. The role covers elements of leadership, management and community building including parent engagement. This involves: Developing and implementing effective pastoral practices which provide for students' wellbeing, and coordinating the efforts of staff in students' holistic growth through ensuring that appropriate programs and processes are developed and followed at all levels to encourage students to embrace a way of living based on the values of the Gospel, and to manage student behaviours which are contrary to this; Leading the parent engagement initiatives for the year level; Ensuring the quality and effectiveness of teacher practice through appropriate supervision; Developing partnerships with parents and carers and other appropriate partnerships within and outside of the school including counsellors and support agencies and prudently administering available resources. Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements Formal qualifications at Degree level in Education Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers Leadership experience:Demonstrated ability in educational leadership. Demonstrated administrative ability. Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships. Willingness to achieve Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School and Accreditation to Teach Religion in a Catholic School (Teachers of Religious Education) Willingness to support and participate in the prayer, liturgy and sacramental life of the Church in the school community Capacity to understand and implement Duty of Care and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
