The Role Ventia are currently seeking Leading Hand Range Operator to join our Defence Base Services contract. Reporting to the Range Supervisor, this role will see you based at Bindoon Training Area to provide range services in exclusion zones during live range activities. You will also be responsible for leading the team with land management duties including mowing, tree removal and reactive firefighting when required. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work outdoors in the fresh air and be exposed to the workings of a Defence Training Facility. The role is a full-time permanent position, offering 38 hours of work per week with overtime opportunities. Your workdays will be over a 7-day period (Monday – Sunday) and will be scheduled in advance around the planned activities of the Australian Defence Force. The pay rate for this position is $33.94 per hour, plus Super with overtime available. To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and willing to undergo a police check. Work outdoors in fresh air Training & upskilling provided Uniform, Safety Boots, & Firefighting PPE provided Work around Defence Military Training programs Your duties will include, but are not limited to: Ensure Red Flags / Red Lights are positioned correctly Preparation of ranges along with providing assistance to range users and customers Undertake groundskeeping and facilities maintenance activities including grass cutting, tree removal, weed spraying, fence/gate repairs and other tasks Manufacture and repair range targets Initial response to minor bush firefighting activities when required Requirements: Current Driver’s Licence – HR License is highly regarded Experience in Range Training Areas or Land Management environments – Highly regarded The Company Ventia is a leading infrastructure services company, operating across Australia and New Zealand.
