Learning Diversity / Special Education Leader 0.4FTE Type: Fixed Term Role: Position of Leadership Hours: Part-time Closes: 11-03-2025 About the role St Michael's Catholic Primary School, Ashburton, is seeking a teacher with some experience in the Learning Diversity / Special Education role, for a replacement in terms 3 and 4, 2025. This role will collaborate with our classroom teachers to support and help design, implement and evaluate learning programs and resources to ensure they meet the needs of our students, particularly those with an identified learning diversity need. The Learning Diversity / Special Education Leader will support teachers to differentiate learning and implement Personalised Learning Plans. A current understanding of modern pedagogical practices for a differentiated curriculum is required for this position and an ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and work with families in planning student programs. This is a replacement, part-time leadership role, commencing in Term 3, 2025. It carries with it a leadership allowance of POL 1. The successful applicant will: Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating personalised learning plans and a differentiated curriculum. Demonstrated experience with classroom teaching. Creative ways to integrate evidence-based practice into our academic and behaviour curriculum, to improve educational outcomes. A commitment to role modelling respect for every student’s individuality and learning diversity need. An ability to cultivate respectful relationships between students, staff and families. A demonstrated ability to foster a welcoming and calm learning environment that promotes positive behaviour. Experience working with a range of learning diversity needs and diagnoses. Excellent communication skills with a recognised ability to build authentic relationships. A commitment to work in a Catholic Education environment. A commitment to Child Safety and a knowledge of Child Safety Standards. Registration with the VIT.
