Applied research in Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney is aimed at improving evidence-based treatment and prevention strategies to improve the lives of people with physical disorders or disabilities. Our staff support higher-degree research candidates to develop research expertise. The school is in a period of exciting and significant investment by the Faculty of Medicine and Health. In order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, the University is seeking academics who are passionate about improving health outcomes and/or health equity in the local, national and global communities, who are committed to teaching and research, and are team players ready to contribute across the broad field of academic activities. The position offers an opportunity to develop and contribute to research and teaching in physiotherapy as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Faculty of Medicine and Health. We are looking to onboard a Lecturer (Education focused, Level B) in a fixed-term capacity – the incumbent will be located in the Susan Wakil Health building on the Camperdown Campus. Your key responsibilities include: Apply learnings through research and scholarly activity to inform their education and research practice Develop research collaborations which will ultimately result in knowledge or technology transfer leading to commercialisation, improved policy or practice and/or enhancements to industry, the profession or the community Undertake independent teaching in discipline, area of expertise or related area Evaluate teaching and learning - both at a program level and in relation to own practice – and applies learnings to improve practice and outcomes Coordinate the activities of other academic staff within their team Develop profile through conferences, seminars and outreach activities Maintain active involvement with discipline and professional associations, including assisting with the organisation of seminars, conferences and activities Share research knowledge and expertise through communication of scholarship with industry, the community and through public events Undertake original research (either independently or as part of a team) Build and maintain a research profile which meets University expectations and standards – including (as appropriate) publication of book chapters/peer-reviewed journal articles, producing conference/seminar papers, generating research income including through applying for competitive grants – either independently or as part of a team. About you Clinical qualifications and experience in physiotherapy; PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline A developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in the discipline or area of expertise Experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings Experience in participation as a team member in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives Experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities A developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the discipline and higher education sector Have a developing network of relationships with key academic, industry, and professional institutions, partners, and stakeholders.
