Lecturer, English & Creative Writing Job No.: 568727 Work type: Fixed Term Full time Fixed Term – 4 years (1/7/25 – 30/6/29) Bundoora Campus Make a difference in a position that offers great job satisfaction About the position The School of Humanities and Social Sciences seeks an academic with demonstrated research capabilities and excellence in teaching to join our English program for a 4-year fixed-term contract. English at La Trobe is a dynamic discipline with research strengths in literary history, cultural studies and literary theory, and with close and extensive connections with creative writing. The English teaching program covers a variety of literary traditions from the Renaissance to the present day. The ideal candidate will complement and contribute to these existing strengths and fields through their own program of research and active interest in teaching and learning. We are looking for an engaging teacher with a proven ability to support students’ learning in both on campus and online teaching environments. The candidate may be required to teach into a number of subjects across a range of historical periods and critical approaches. Capacity to teach into at least two of the following areas is especially desirable: Romanticism, Shakespeare, and Literary Theory and Criticism. This fixed-term position is available as a result of the ARC Future Fellowship project, ‘A Political History of Colonial Australian Poetry’, led by Dr Tom Ford. Skills and Experience PhD in a relevant field. Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development, including online modes of delivery. Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research conducted and published or otherwise disseminated, relative to opportunity. Demonstrated ability to supervise, or co-supervise, honours and postgraduate students.
