Job Description A Lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the discipline of medicine. The Lecturer in Medical Education makes a significant contribution to curriculum development, course delivery, course convenorship and assessment in Phases 1 and 2 of the Doctor of Medicine program, with a focus on teaching, learning and assessment of clinical skills and communication skills. The incumbent will support the School’s educational mission in relation to the medical program. They will contribute to the implementation of high-quality learning and assessment activities in the Doctor of Medicine program. The incumbent will also contribute to the broader mission of the School, through scholarly and service activities as negotiated with their Academic Supervisor. A Lecturer is expected to carry out independent and/or team research, including in medical education, and may supervise postgraduate research students. This is a continuing, part-time (0.4FTE/40%) position and will be primarily based at the Sunshine Coast Health Institute adjacent to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Salary Range The full-time equivalent base salary will be Academic Lecturer (Level B) range $110,464 - $131,180 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $129,243 - $153,481 per annum. Qualifications To be eligible for the position, you will: Possession of a doctoral or masters qualification of equivalent accreditation and standing and/or significant progress towards completion of a doctoral degree in medicine or a health related discipline; OR, Possession of a medical degree from a recognised educational institution; and a professional fellowship (or progress towards completion of a fellowship) Experience in teaching of clinical skills and/or communication skills in a medical or health program is a desirable criterion How to apply At Griffith, we’re committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all - whoever you are and wherever you’re from.
