We teach undergraduate through to postgraduate psychology (including Clinical and Professional Psychology), and have a vibrant cohort of Honours, Masters, and PhD students. About the Role We have two positions open within the College as the Lecturer in Psychology (Balanced Research and Teaching). Both positions are continuing (i.e. tenure-track equivalent). As the successful candidate, you will produce quality research, deliver undergraduate teaching in Psychology, and contribute to a range of administrative tasks appropriate to the level of appointment. Both positions are open to applicants from any area of research within Psychology. Research activity will involve developing independent high-quality, ethical, and innovative research through activities such as quality publication, external grant acquisition, presentations, and contributing to a vibrant and collaborative research environment within the discipline of Psychology and the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work. The teaching component includes the development of innovative teaching materials often in collaboration with others, multi-mode teaching delivery and other innovative and contemporary teaching and learning strategies. We are seeking to fill two identified areas of need. The first position will be suited to an exceptional research methods expert, who exemplifies a student-centred approach to teaching and is able to support staff and students to build capacity in statistics and research methodologies across our research and teaching. The second position will be suited to a person who has a passion for research in practice (e.g. translation, implementation and evaluation skills), suitable for a pre-professional fourth-year psychology program. Both positions will be involved in teaching potentially across a variety of areas and supervision of honours, masters, and PhD students. Key Responsibilities: Contributing to the organisation, planning, delivery, and evaluation of teaching primarily within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate topics/courses, through topic coordination, delivery of lectures, tutorials, laboratories, placements, or other contemporary teaching strategies. Planning and delivering ethical, high-quality, and innovative research through activities such as quality publication, external grant acquisition, presentations, and scholarly engagement that aligns with the College’s areas of research strength. Delivering inspiring and innovative teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience and support students with academic and/or other challenges impeding their academic progress. Supervision of Honours, Masters, and Research Higher Degree students. Actively participating in College internal and external quality assurance and accreditation processes. Developing and maintaining strategic relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders including industry and professional associations and organisations. About You To be successful, you have completed a PhD in Psychology. In addition, you will be able to: Demonstrate evidence of, or capacity to, undertake high-quality teaching in a tertiary environment, including involvement in topic coordination and curriculum design including for online topics/courses. Demonstrate evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in an area aligned with research strengths including evidence of quality publications and attraction of external competitive grants. Demonstrate understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, and scholarship. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective relationships with staff, students, and industry. Demonstrate capacity to supervise Graduate Diploma/Honours and Higher Degree Research Students.
