About the branch The Commercial, Property and Technology (CP&T) Branch assists government clients to conduct significant transactions and projects, manage their corporate affairs and acquire, manage or dispose of land, goods or services. About the role An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join our Commercial, Property & Technology Branch as part of the legal support team that provides comprehensive legal and administrative support to a team of solicitors and conveyancers. Responsibilities will include: Produce quality legal documents, ranging from routine correspondence and court documents to more complex formatting of large contracts accurately in accordance with VGSO styles Managing the monthly billing process of multiple solicitors and conveyancers Obtaining relevant property searches, including Title searches, property certificates and company searches File management – maintaining orderly, up to date legal files in electronic and hard copy format Diary and email management – monitoring emails, calendars and coordinating meetings Looking for ways to reduce the administrative workload of your solicitors General administration – photocopying, couriers, relieving reception The successful candidate will have previous administrative experience, preferably within a legal environment. Skills and experience Demonstrated experience in a similar legal assistant or equivalent administration role Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat Experience in working in large documents and dealing with formatting/corruption issues Demonstrable capability in providing high quality assistance to a team of solicitors, in a deadline driven and fast paced environment Knowledge of legal terminology and an ability to conduct title, company and property searches, experience with InfoTrack and Landata desirable Self-starter who takes initiative with advanced skills in problem solving and the ability to work autonomously High attention to detail, with a commitment to service excellence VGSO offers an inclusive, collegiate and collaborative work environment where you will be well-supported and mentored to develop your knowledge.
