Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation (YMAC) is the Native Title Representative Body (NTRB), delivering native title and other services across the Pilbara, Mid West, Murchison and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia. YMAC is run by a First Nations board of directors, representing several native title groups, each of whom have their own language, culture, traditions and protocols. YMAC services include native title claim and future act representation; heritage services; executive office, community, and economic development assistance; land administration, and natural resource management support. About the Role: YMAC is currently seeking a part time (30 hours per fortnight – two days per week) Legal Clerk to join the Legal team in our Perth office on a permanent contract. The purpose of the role is to conduct assigned legal support work and tasks effectively and efficiently under the guidance of qualified legal staff. The duties of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to: Providing administrative support to the broader legal team including, but not limited to: transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, drafting and transmitting text; completing binding creation, indexing and labelling of material; liaison with Information Management team, PLO and DPLO when gathering, documenting and storing internal records and client documents. Assisting with preparation for working group meetings or any other meetings, attending the meetings and if appropriate being the minute taker for the meeting or taking some other administrative role; Filing court documents (e-filing and physical filing if required); Assist with the preparation and organisation of internal meetings; Attending internal meetings, note taking and distributing outcome documents; Assist with the preparation of briefs to Counsel; Prepare and maintain claim history file for assigned claims; and Preparation of checklists and process documents; What YMAC Offers YMAC believes in providing a safe and supportive working environment, and the best way to do that is to ensure our employees are well-looked after.
