Join our supportive and dynamic legal team at Swinburne University as Legal Counsel (Commercial & Corporate Advisory) and make a meaningful impact on the University's goals. Reporting to the Director, Commercial and Corporate Legal Services, and under the direction of the General Counsel, you'll work in a collaborative environment where your expertise will help shape the University's legal landscape. In this role, you will provide high-quality legal advice on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters to support the University's strategic objectives. You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing agreements, advising on a wide range of legal issues relating to the University, including University and public sector regulatory requirements, land transactions, disputes, research, and intellectual property, while contributing to the development and adoption of best practices in commercial and corporate matters. We’re looking for someone who thrives on continuous improvement and is eager to embrace modern legal practices, including leveraging technology to streamline processes and enhance value. As a key advisor, you'll work closely with stakeholders across the University to support the delivery of projects and initiatives while addressing legal risk. About You To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: At least 4 years’ experience gained in reputable private legal practice or in-house including corporate and commercial work. Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality and solutions-focused legal advice. Strong problem-solving capabilities and able to take initiative when providing complex legal advice. Proven skills and demonstrated ability to interpret and provide advice on legislation as well as internal and government policies. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a busy caseload with competing priorities and strong organisational skills. Qualifications Australian legal practitioner within the meaning of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria).
