Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants to be considered for the position of a Line Pilot. The Line Pilot will play a pivotal role in supporting the AFP’s mission to protect Australians and Australia’s interests, through the utilisation of their aviation skills and experience. You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position outlined below. What will you do? The Line Pilot is responsible for: Undertaking a range of tasks at the direction of the Chief Pilot in support of AFP operations Qualifying and operating a B-350/360 King Air as pilot in command in all-weather day and night missions Developing plans and ensuring all resources are effectively directed at achieving business area outputs Assessing aviation situations, determining and effecting an appropriate response Utilising and maintaining skills and aviation equipment Maintaining knowledge and understanding of the provisions of all relevant Civil Aviation Regulations and Civil Aviation Orders Essential Requirements You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application A Negative Vetting 1 security clearance or the ability to obtain one Current Commercial Pilots Licence or higher Total flying hours greater than 1500 Total Multi-engine Pilot in Command hours greater than 500 Current Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating (MECIR) with at least 5 renewals Current class 1 Medical Current ASIC pass Undertake a psychological screening process Successfully pass a simulator screening flight test Desirable Requirements Current rating on Beechcraft B350/360 aircraft Currently employed in a pilot position Ability to obtain and maintain a Positive Vetting (PV) Security Clearance Additional Information This role is located in Canberra, ACT and applicants are expected to be based in Canberra. National and International travel will be required for this role. This role attracts a composite allowance in recognition of expanded working hours, normal patterns of attendance and shift patterns (such as afternoon shifts, weekends and Designated Public Holidays) that are required under the Operations working pattern. In accordance with the AFP Enterprise Agreement, an employee who is required to work in accordance with the Operations working pattern will receive a Core Composite of 22% in addition to their base salary, which will count as salary for superannuation. The Commissioner has the authority to remove a composite from a role.
