MLHD provides high-quality healthcare services to a diverse regional and rural population. The district includes a network of hospitals, health centres, and clinics, offering a wide range of medical and specialist services.What You'll Be Doing In this crucial role, you will be part of an integrated Violence, Abuse, and Neglect (VAN) response, which includes both psychosocial and forensic medical support. You will provide forensic and medical care to adult victims of sexual assault and domestic violence across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). You’ll conduct forensic examinations, arrange necessary treatments, and ensure appropriate follow-up care for patients. Your responsibilities will also include completing medical certificates, participating in legal proceedings, and ensuring your practice adheres to the highest standards in forensic medicine.You will play a key role in supporting adult patients by maintaining accurate documentation, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide timely, compassionate care, and mentoring junior staff. Your work will contribute to the health and safety of vulnerable individuals and families. Working towards or commitment to completion of ECAV Introduction to the Medical and Forensic Management of Adult Sexual Assault as offered by the Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV). Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development. Undertake appropriate training as indicated by credentialing guide for medical and forensic VAN staff outlined by MoH. Participate in peer review supports and regular clinical supervision. This includes local community of practice, but also tertiary level as part of the peer response. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires.
